Nephrectomy is a surgical procedure to remove one or both kidneys of the human body. It is done to treat severe kidney diseasesor for kidney donation. There are two main types of Nephrectomies. They are Partial Nephrectomy (removing a part of the kidney) and Radical Nephrectomy (removing the entire kidney). It is a surgical extraction of the kidneys.
Nephrectomy can be necessary in some cases of severe kidney diseases, such as kidney cancer, kidney stones and chronic kidney infections
