Uterine artery embolization is a minimally invasive technique that involves injecting microscopic particles into the uterine arteries to prevent blood flow to fibroids, thereby shrinking their size and easing symptoms such as excessive bleeding and pelvic pain. It is a substitute for open surgery in the treatment of uterine fibroids.

Embolization: – The uterine arteries are inserted with tiny particles called embolic agents, which are injected via a catheter. – The fibroids shrink as a result of these particles’ blockage of blood flow
Monitoring: – The interventional radiologist keeps an eye on the process in real time to make sure the embolic agents are distributed correctly and to verify that the fibroids’ blood flow is effectively blocked.
Post-Procedure Care – Following embolization, the catheter is taken out and a tiny stitch is usually used to close the incision site. – Patients are monitored for a few hours before discharge
